Saugerties Pro Musica hosts free concert November 7
Saugerties Pro Musica presents the Avila Ensemble of Bard College Conservatory of Music in a free concert on November 7 at 3 p.m. at the Saugerties United Methodist Church at 67 Washington Avenue in Saugerties. This accomplished string quartet is made up of four students from various provinces of Venezuela who began their music studies as children with the famous El Sistema music education program started by Gustavo Dudamel. They are all studying at the Bard College Conservatory of Music in the five-year double-degree program on full scholarships.
Violinists Ana Aparicio and Laura Pérez-Rangel, double-bassist Elizabeth Liotta and percussionist Juan Mora Rubio, who comprise the Avila Ensemble, will perform works by Piazzolla and Mazas, as well as their own arrangements of traditional Venezuelan dance music. All CDC guidelines will be followed in the live performance at the Church.

Takeout spaghetti dinner at Reformed Church of Saugerties
