It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the village of Saugerties.
Members of the Kiwanis Club, along with George Terpening of the village Parks, Buildings and Grounds Department were joined by a number of inmates from Ulster County Jail to install a host of wooden characters throughout Seamon Park and decorate the bushes and trees with more than 25,000 lights.
Hughes Tree Service provided a bucket truck to assist with decorating the taller trees.
Members of the Saugerties Fire Department have also been hard at work checking the thousands of light bulbs on the strands of lights that outline the buildings on Main and Partition streets in the village business district.
Saugerties Holiday in the Village will be held Sunday, Dec. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. It includes a holiday market, music, toy giveaways, live mannequins, free horse carriage rides, kids’ crafts, Santa at the Kiersted House, entertainment and surprises. The tree lighting will be followed by the Fire Department Parade of Lights to Seamon Park, where “The Night Before Christmas” will be read.
