The Time and the Valleys Museum in Grahamsville hosts two vintage base ball (yes, two words) games between the Mountain Athletic Club of Fleischmanns and the Atlantic Base Ball Club of Brooklyn on Saturday, August 24 at the Grahamsville Fairgrounds. The first game will be played by the rules in effect in 1864, and the second game will be played by rules from 1895. Period uniforms, period equipment, rules you won’t quite recognize and no mitts: “These are no ordinary ball games,” states Collin Miller, captain of the Mountain Athletic Club. “The players and the style of play will resemble what your great or great-great grandparents would’ve seen over 125 years ago.”
Entrance to the games is free for all. There are no bleachers; please bring lawn chairs. Dressing in 19th-century attire is encouraged.
