A report of a physical altercation alleged to have taken place at around 4 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 in the vicinity of Witchtree and VandeBogart Roads has been proven false.
“The 15-year-old male made up the story,” said Woodstock Police Chief Clayton Keefe at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 27. “He admitted to me that he had falsely reported the incident. We were diligently working to ID a suspect and couldn’t come up with anyone.” Keefe said that an Onteora Central School District resource officer had contacted him with the information.
The youth was charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident and the case was sent to Ulster County Family Court.
“The area is safe,” said Keefe. “I’m glad we don’t have a person like that (the alleged attacker) in our neighborhood.”
