The city is loosening up the parking rules until Jan. 2, Mayor Steve Noble announced this week. As of Wednesday, Dec. 19 city parking personnel will concentrate on meter repairs and maintenance and let people parked at expired meters go unticketed.
“While I still encourage drivers to feed the meters, I also understand that shopping lines can be long and holiday dining celebrations can last longer than expected,” stated the mayor in a press release. “In the giving spirit of the season, I hope this gesture will help make your holidays a little brighter and a little less stressful.”
The mayor said tickets will still be written for those who block hydrants, park in handicapped spots without a permit and don’t have their inspections up to date, and will also cite those who don’t park in legal spots or double-park.
