Rates for parking passes in municipal lots are not expected to change next year under Mayor Steve Noble’s 2019 budget proposal.
Last year, the Common Council approved Noble’s plan to install payment kiosks and charge 75 cents an hour at nine municipal lots that were previously free to use. The same proposal raised rates for streetside parking meters to $1 per hour and upped fines for parking violations. Noble said the new fees were intended to pay for upgrades and maintenance of the lots as part of a long-term strategic plan to address a lack of parking in the city’s business districts.
As part of the plan, the city offered $100 annual passes that would allow unlimited parking in the lots for regular users. On Wednesday, Nov. 14 a spokeswoman for Noble said there were no plans to raise the price of the annual passes in 2019. Megan Weiss-Rowe added that the city expected to announce sales for next year’s passes in the next few weeks.
