The local jazz promoter and player collective Jazzstock presents Ryan Keberle & Catharsis on Saturday, November 17 at the Senate Garage in Kingston. The lauded trombonist Keberle (voted Rising Star Trombonist in the Downbeat International Critics’ Poll) explores the intersection of indie art song, jazz and world music with Catharsis, whose latest politically charged record, Find the Common, Shine the Light, was described by The Nation as “unpretentiously intelligent and profoundly moving.” Downbeat considers it “a project that could speak both to the current state of political unrest and to music’s ability to overcome it.”
Catharsis features Keberle on trombone and keyboard, Philip Dizack on trumpet, Camila Meza on voice and guitar, Noam Wiesenberg on bass and Eric Doob on drums. Tickets cost $25 in advance, $30 on the day of the show and $10 for students.
