Kingston man plans to challenge Cahill for Democratic nod in 103rd Assembly district

Abe Uchitelle of Kingston today announced his candidacy for the 103rd Assembly district. He hopes to wrest the Democratic nomination from the hands of 11-term incumbent Kevin Cahill.

Uchitelle is the president of the Kingston-based digital marketing firm DragonSearch.

“I am running for Assembly to challenge the status quo of politics as usual in Albany,” Uchitelle said. “Our district deserves a leader who will work with all levels of government to solve problems for families back at home. Day after day I see firsthand how much unrealized potential our residents and businesses have and I will work hard to improve our towns and villages by focusing on real issues – issues like job creation, education, and responsible housing policy — while upholding the progressive values of our community.”

Prior to joining DragonSearch in 2013 Uchitelle resided in New Paltz, where he served on multiple town and village committees and worked on the New Paltz Loop bus plan, according to a release from the candidate. Currently, Uchitelle serves as board member for the Kingston Land Trust and Family of Woodstock.

Uchitelle will hold a formal campaign kickoff Tuesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. at the Senate Garage in Kingston.

The district covers most of Ulster County and part of Dutchess County.
