Mark E. Lancaster of Middletown, 35, was arrested on June 9 and charged with the felony of first-degree assault after evading police for nine months.
According to members of the Kingston Police Department, Lancaster stabbed a 47-year-old man numerous times in the back on Oct. 7, 2016 of last year after an altercation on North Front Street. Detectives at the time quickly identified Lancaster, who promptly fled the scene and went on the lam, as a suspect. Police said he was ultimately located using a tip regarding his whereabouts on the department’s “Tipsoft” program. That information, police said, was shared with the City of Middletown Police Department’s narcotics unit, which located Lancaster and brought him into custody.
Lancaster was processed at police headquarters, and is being held pending his arraignment.
