Town of Ulster Supervisor Jim Quigley says he will run for a third term in November, after repeatedly stating he was leaving politics to return to the private sector.
Quigley said he was urged to change his mind by a”steady stream” of “involved citizens” who urged him to run.
He said he was also convinced that “everything I have tried to do for the last four years would be washed away” if he didn’t run. Quigley was re-elected without opposition two years ago  in the heavily Republican town. Republicans  nominated a supervisor and two town board members at caucus on Thursday.
In June, Quigley accepted the county Republican nomination to run for comptroller, but later withdrew. Linda McDonough is the party’s nominee against two-term Democratic comptroller Elliott Auerbach.
