ACLU benefit concert at Bearsville

Our benefit concerts used to be driven by bad weather – really bad weather. Now they seem more likely to be about sustaining critical and endangered social institutions while Power gleefully dismantles the social contract and everyone else suffers. In the latest showing of locally residing stars, the Bearsville Theater hosts “Buried Treasure and Friends: A Concert to Benefit the ACLU” on Friday, March 24 at 8 p.m. The ensemble features Grammy nominee Tracy Bonham, Scott Sharrard (Gregg Allman lead guitarist /musical director), Jay Collins (Gregg Allman, Levon Helm, Donald Fagen) and Kevin Salem (Giant Sand, Chocolate Genius) around a core band of Bari Koral, Brandon Morrison, Will Bryant and Lee Falco. The band digs up gems and deep cuts from Wings, Lucinda Williams, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, Chuck Berry and many more. Chogyi Lama & Casey Michael with Calvin Alfaro and James Orr are scheduled to open.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The evening will also feature a silent auction. The concert is produced by Bari Koral and Fenner Osmond Friedman, age 15, as part of her final project for a school-run mentorship with WDST. This event is also supported by Catskills Indivisible and Women Empowering Women.

Tickets cost $15 in advance, $20 at the door, with student tickets remaining at $15. Tickets can be purchased at www.bearsvilletheater.com or at the Bearsville Theater box office. The Bearsville Theater is located at 291 Tinker Street in Woodstock.
