Internationally renowned Irish musician Liam Ó Maonlaí of The Hothouse Flowers will perform a benefit concert for New Paltz Arts in the Schools (NPASA) on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Kettleborough Inn on Route 208 in New Paltz. The mission of NPASA is to enrich students’ experiences by preserving and supporting extracurricular arts-related clubs and activities in the New Paltz School District. NPASA’s goal is to restore funding for arts programs that were cut from this year’s school budget.
Presently, there is an urgent deadline to re-fund the high school drama club before it is shut down. If 50 people reserve their seats for the Liam Ó Maonlaí show by Oct. 23, the drama club will be saved. Once that goal is reached, NPASA will work to re-fund all-county band and chorus at Lenape and the high school, as well as the high school poetry club and Literary magazine.
Seats are very limited. A VIP reception with Ó Maonlaí will start at 6 p.m.; only 20 VIP seats are available at $125 each. The show begins at 8 p.m. Only 50 general admission seats are available at $30 each. Seats can be purchased at NPASA’s fundraising site: https://www.indiegogo.com/npasa by claiming the “Liam VIP” or “Liam General Admission” perk.
Mike Farragher of The Irish Central described Ó Maonlaí’s intimate live set as “one of the most spellbinding musical moments I have witnessed…plain and simple.”
The event is being sponsored by the Kettleborough Inn, The Village Tea Room, The Mudd Puddle, In Good Taste, Moxie Cupcakes, Highland Tent Rental, Treehouse Audio and Winter Moon Studios.
