This Sunday, March 25 Wild Earth will host its sixth annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Rosendale Recreational Center on Route 32. Wild Earth is a not-for-profit nature-based organization located in New Paltz and is managed by volunteer community members who “caretake” a common vision. The breakfast is a fundraiser that helps to support Wild Earth’s scholarships for summer camp and other programs. But pancakes are not the only things at this fundraiser. There will be raffles, auctions and live music. The silent auction will feature a theme of food and fun from the beginning of the event until 11:30 a.m.
“A lot of restaurants have offered really good gift certificates,” said Charlene Dye, one of the caretakers at Wild Earth.
There will also be a live auction starting at 10:30 a.m.
“Some of our instructors have put together nature-based experiences that they will lead,” said Dye. “Their instructors are auctioning off these experiences during the live auction, offering different wilderness skills.”
The live music featured will be Dog on Fleas, playing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Pamelech Klezmer Okester, playing from 11 a.m. until noon.
The menu will include local and organic eggs, bacon, maple syrup and pancakes. The food is donated by local businesses.
“It’s really great that we have that support from the community,” Dye said.
Their supporters include Taliaferro Farm, Mudd Puddle, Lyonsville Sugarhouse, High Falls Food Co-op, Old Ford Farm, Hudson Valley Harvest, Wild Hive and Health and Nutrition.
The price is $10 per person and there are family discounts available. Children who show up in their pajamas get a free raffle ticket.
