The New Paltz Central School District is in the process of constructing a long-term facilities plan in conjunction with its financial and educational plan. Difficult decisions need to be made about how to thoughtfully spend on district school buildings and facility needs. To minimize yearly operating costs for the long term, the current Board of Education seeks to create and set in motion a long-range plan to maintain and potentially update the district’s facilities. There are a number of items that need attention, some more urgently than others. As the district moves forward with physical plant updates, it is necessary to continually assess educational programs in harmony with facility and financial planning. This is consistent with the mission of the school district.
To help the Board of Education gain insight into the collective knowledge and wisdom of the entire community, it has scheduled community facilities conversation for Nov. 30, 7 p.m., at New Paltz Central High School. The goal of this event is to seek guidance from the community before the board makes essential and far-reaching decisions.
