Cabaret nights in New Paltz

Spanning the generations while nurturing new talent, New Paltz’s 90 Miles Off Broadway has offered local audiences high-quality community theater since 1964, producing three shows a year. That’s roughly 450 performances, and if you include the annual Cabaret & Dessert Nights – to be held this Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25 – that means that 90 Miles has accomplished a long line of entertaining evenings over the years.

The Cabaret will feature local singers doing “songs they’ve always wanted to sing,” in a grand lineup that includes Kim Lupinacci and the children of Bright Beginnings (no children on Saturday), Guy Visk, Sherry Kitay, Sara Clark, Pam Tate, Paul Walley, Jessica Fritz, Olivia Casa and Carly Fields and the cast of Jane Eyre: The Musical; with additional Friday evening appearances by Joe Gayton, Joanne Still, Christopher Fattibene, the Arts Community’s Glee class led by Kate Weston and sneak preview performances by the New Paltz High School cast of Seussical featuring Allison Albrecht, Seth Roberts and Ashley Mazzei.

An assortment of desserts will be served during the performances, and there will be games and prizes. There will also be a preview of pieces from 90 Miles’ upcoming spring production of Jane Eyre: The Musical.

The Friday night family-friendly performance will be held in the Social Hall at the New Paltz Reformed Church on Huguenot Street. Proceeds from Friday’s show will be donated to the New Paltz Reformed Church, which has graciously supported 90 Miles over the years by providing much-needed rehearsal space and occasional performance space for shows.

The Saturday night performance will take place at the New Paltz Community Center on Route 32 North, behind Town Hall, and is geared toward a more mature crowd. That means you can expect “just a wee bit naughty” in its content. Proceeds from this show will be used to assist the Arts Community’s A Home for the Arts campaign, which will provide a home theatre for 90 Miles Off Broadway.

Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for Cabaret & Dessert are $12, and are available in advance at Bright Beginnings, the Reformed Church Office and the New Paltz Community Center during business hours. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the night of the performance. For tickets and further information, call Kim at (845) 256-9657.
