Woodstock Jewish Congregation to host Arts Fair this Sunday

More than 40 artists and craftspeople working in a wide variety of genres and media, including painting, printmaking, woodworking, fiber art, jewelry, pottery and ceramics, chocolate and photography will participate in the fourth annual Woodstock Arts Fair at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation (WJC) on Sunday, November 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Arts Fair provides an opportunity for area residents and visitors to view and purchase work made by artists and craftspeople, some of whom have traveled from as far as Manhattan to be part of the Fair. In addition to original art and crafts items, the artists and craftspeople will sell prints, notecards, CDs, books, jewelry, candy and other items. A complete listing of the participants can be found on www.wjcshul.org.

The Fair was the brainchild of Myra Schwartz, longtime resident of Woodstock and member of the WJC, as well as an artist working in clay. “This is a perfect way for the Woodstock Jewish Congregation to do something for the arts community: a Fair with very low cost for the participants and no commission fee for the synagogue. We have an extraordinary and versatile building that we are very proud of and want to share with the community.”

Myra has once again asked Cornelia Seckel, publisher of Art Times, a member of the synagogue and a Woodstock area resident, if she would co-sponsor the event, and once again she has readily agreed. Adding her expertise and experience with artists and the arts world ensures that there is professionalism and competence brought to this annual event. “Since starting Art Times more than 28 years ago, I have had my hands full and little time for volunteer work. I see this as a way for me and my business to give a return to the community of creative people who have supported our publication in print and now online.”

There is no entry fee to attend the Fair; however, a $5 donation for adults will be appreciated. Children under age 12 are admitted free. A menu prepared by Café Mezzaluna Bistro Latino is available for dining throughout the day. The indoor event will take place rain or shine at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation, located at 1682 Glasco Turnpike just north of the intersection of Glasco Turnpike and Route 212. For more information, contact (845) 679-2218 or info@wjcshul.org.
