Lights Out, a Franki Valli and the Four Seasons tribute band, will perform at a concert to raise money for the Saugerties High School Marching Band Saturday, Nov. 21 at the 7 p.m. at the high school auditorium.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Sawyer Motors, 166 Ulster Ave. As of Monday morning, they are nearly sold out, said organizer Bob Siracusano. Call the dealership at 246-4560 for more info. Security guards will be on site, to keep it a peaceful event.

The Sawyer Marching Band, resurrected from a long absence by music teacher Bernhard Spirig, performed in the 2015 Saugerties Fourth of July parade and immediately caught the attention of the attendees.

“Our town wants a marching band, and I want to help the school make it possible,” said Siracusano.

“The band holds a special place in my heart,” he added, recalling the days watching the band practice at Cantine Field.

The band was a mainstay in local parades and performed in Washington, DC, Orlando, Fl. and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade during the 1970s and early 1980s.

The band’s organizer and coordinator, Bernhard Spirig, was a bit overwhelmed by the support he has received. “I just want the young people to play and enjoy the experience,” he said. “I never expected this kind of reaction. We just want to play for people. I am very appreciative of Mr. Siracusano for going out of his way to help us.”

Lights Out played at this year’s Sawyer Motors Car Show. “It should be a great night, they are incredible performers,” said Siracusano. “They are the real thing.”

Siracusano said in the case of a sellout, some seats may be available that night due to some ticketholders buying extra tickets as a show of support.
