Food truck fans rejoice: the popular monthly festival will resume Sept. 19 at Cantine Field. The event will include no fewer than eight local food trucks and music by The Backburners and Doug Yoel & Friends.
Organizer Marc Propper said the location is ideal, with plenty of room for parking and playgrounds for families. “We have room to grow,” he said.
The festival was previously held four times at fiberflame studio on Rt. 212, but the town shut it down in August. Organizers lacked the necessary permits and town officials were concerned about attendees parking and walking along the busy road.
Propper credits town Supervisor Kelly Myers with helping secure Cantine Field, the town’s recreational complex. She contacted Parks and Recreation Superintendent Greg Chorvas, who quickly granted a permit for September.
“I didn’t want to see this go by the wayside,” said Myers.
Propper said another event is planned for October, weather-permitting. The first event of 2014 would be held in May. Myers called the prospect of a large event in October “exciting” because it would extend the tourism season in Saugerties beyond the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival, held the last weekend of September.
The festival will be held from 3-10 p.m. at Cantine Field, accessible from Washington Ave. or Market St.
