The contract negotiations that have been underway since the previous teacher’s contract expired in 2010 have come to a close. The Board of Education and the Saugerties Teacher’s Association voted to ratify a new contract on Tuesday, April 9, following on the heels of an agreement reached late the previous month. According to a report by Superintendent Seth Turner, the contract is a five-year deal that runs from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2015. It includes a one percent annual salary increase each year for the 2012-15 school years with a three percent net increase. Employees will increase their contribution to health insurance premiums by two percent as of July 1, 2013, and in return the district will increase its contribution to the Welfare Benefit Trust by $40 on the same date, and again the same day the following year. Additionally, the contract resolves outstanding grievances and labor-related issues.
