More snow? Ulster County is bracing for a familiar question as another major winter storm targets a broad swath of the U.S. this weekend. After multiple January rounds that have kept plowers and shovelers busy, the latest projections show a wide range of outcomes depending on how far north the storm’s moisture shield reaches.
Bitter cold has already descended and is forecast to remain through the weekend, with lows dropping under zero degrees. Following the cold, there’s a growing chance for snow late Saturday into Sunday and Sunday night, with lingering snow possible into Monday.
The uncertainty is mostly about placement. Local forecasters describe Ulster County as being near a potential cutoff line: a storm track farther south could leave Ulster with only light accumulation, while a modest northward shift could put heavier bands closer to the county, especially in the Catskills.
