A Highland man was arrested Monday morning in connection with a September shooting in Kingston. Authorities allege that 22-year-old Kenneth Vann was involved in an incident where multiple gunshots were fired near Elmendorf and Belvedere Streets on September 4. He now faces felony charges, including weapons possession, reckless endangerment, and tampering with evidence, along with a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of a child.
Federal authorities tracked Vann down at his home with assistance from the US Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. After his arrest, he was handed over to Kingston Police, arraigned in Ulster County Court, and ordered held without bail. During the same operation, marshals also apprehended the suspect’s brother, Daevon Vann, in Poughkeepsie in a separate shooting case. Police believe the siblings were together at the time of their arrests.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including police departments from Kingston, Poughkeepsie, and the Town of Ulster, as well as the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police. Officials are continuing to gather information related to the shootings and encourage the public to contact Kingston Police with any relevant tips.
