Shandaken ambulance drivers get a raise

On the morning of Sunday, October 5, New York State Police from the Ellenville barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 209 in the town of Wawarsing. The incident occurred at approximately 8:38 a.m.

According to the initial findings, both vehicles—a 2008 Honda and a 2022 Subaru—were traveling southbound on Route 209 when the collision took place. The driver of the Honda, a 24-year-old woman from Ellenville, sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders administered life-saving treatment at the scene before she was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the Subaru, a 25-year-old man from Woodbourne, was not injured in the crash.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the incident. State police are seeking assistance from the public and urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or was near Barthel’s Farm Market and Creamery or 8097 State Route 209 around the time of the crash to contact the state police in Middletown at (845) 344-5300.
