The Saugerties Farmers Market is inviting the Saugerties Animal Shelter to the market on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 115 Main Street, from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Cahill School parking lot.
The market is joining the Saugerties Chamber of Commerce to promote the need of the shelter to find homes for the animals brought there and to find volunteers who can help care for them. The Chamber’s annual street art event this year, “Barkin’ Around Saugerties,” is featuring 35 artist-designed dog sculptures that will be sold at auction on September 14, 2025 to raise funds for the Saugerties Animal Shelter.
The Saugerties Farmers Market wants to help spread the word by bringing and showing off the animals who need to find their care givers. The hope is that market-goers will fall in love with the animals and begin applications for adoption.
Both a dog costume contest and a contest for the best tricks will be held at 11AM at the market. Awards will be given as their owners show off their special pets.
Artist Anita Barbour’s dog stamps and Chloe Saban-Mayor custom pet portraits will be available.
