Green’s the scene for Cathy Hobbs, founder of Highland Passive House in Lloyd. She was recently named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Highland Passive House is a first-of-its-kind, 12,500-square-foot eco-friendly warehouse offering home staging, interior design, vacation rental design, and turnkey furnishing services. They also provide furniture and prop rentals for film and television productions in New York City and the Hudson Valley. Hobbs has five Emmys to her name and moved her staging company from New York City to Ulster County in January 2024.
The Entrepreneur of the Year honor is part of the Chamber’s annual Ulster County Business Recognition Awards, which celebrate businesses that demonstrate leadership, outstanding results, or contributions to the local economy and quality of life. Other 2025 awardees include Stewart’s Shops as Business of the Year; KDD Marketing as Small Business of the Year; A Day Away Kayak Rentals for Tourism Business of the Year; RUPCO for Commitment to the Community; Eng’s Chinese Restaurant for the Heritage Award; restaurateur Dave Amato for the Len Can Heart of Ulster County Award; and Wayne Winkler of Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union as Chamber Champion.
The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s annual dinner on October 23 at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston.
