Trailer dumps load of stone into Kingston traffic circle, blocking entrance

The driver of the truck surveys the damage as police arrive.

Drive on Kingston’s traffic circles enough and you’ll see your fair share of fender-benders and near-misses — but this is a new one.

Traffic began backing up at the Broadway traffic circle at approximately 12:09pm on Wednesday, Aug. 6 after a flatbed semi-trailer carrying stone dumped half its load directly into the Albany Avenue entrance.

A dust cloud rises moments after a trailer dumped a large amount of stone in the roadway.

A cloud of dust could be seen as the truck driver removed debris to allow traffic to exit from Albany Avenue to Colonel Chandler Drive, but the pile of stone blocking the Albany Avenue entrance to the traffic circle was too large for one man to move quickly. Kingston Police arrived minutes later to manage traffic and assist in clearing the roadway of debris.

Kingston Police responded to the scene within minutes.
