Cooling stations are open across Ulster County to help residents battle the heat wave that’s currently toasting Ulster County and surrounding areas.
A Heat Advisory is in effect across most of the Hudson Valley through Thursday, with high humidity and temperatures pushing the heat index into the upper 90s, possibly topping 100°. There is a continued risk of scattered thunderstorms bringing flash flooding as they have in recent days.
Kingston residents can head to midtown’s 2nda Iglesia La Mission Church (80 Elmendorf St.) through Saturday, July 19, 9am-7pm.
In Ellenville, the usual cooling center at the Trudy Center (50 Center St.) is open through Friday, July 18, 9am-5pm.
In Saugerties, Town Hall (4 High St.) is typically used as a cooling center in times of extreme heat.
The area’s libraries are also a great way to get some free air conditioning as long as you’re respectful of the environment. A list can be found here.
