At around 5:48am on May 27, a 37-year old female with multiple stab wounds was admitted to HealthAlliance Hospital. Kingston Police were notified immediately by hospital staff. It was determined that the incident happened in Saugerties, and ultimately New York State Police launched an investigation.
According to police, the victim was staying at the Wenton Motel on Route 9W in Saugerties when she heard a knock on the door around 4:45am. Shannon N. Marshall, 38, of Saugerties began a verbal altercation with the victim, which quickly escalated to a physical assault. Police say Marshall stabbed the victim several times and then left the scene.
Police arrested Marshall after the incident and charged her with the felony of assault in the 2nd degree, and the misdemeanors of menacing in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree. She was arraigned and sent to jail with bail set at $20,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond. She is scheduled to return to court today.
