Ulster County’s “I Voted” election sticker contest is back in 2025

How New York Democrats lost the House

Who could forget the creepy, surreal spider from Ulster County’s 2022 “I Voted” sticker? Designed by Hudson Rowan, a 14-year-old from Marbletown, the sticker went viral nationally for its perfect encapsulation of civic and political fatigue.

The tradition continues in 2025, as Ulster County has opened submissions for its annual “I Voted” sticker design contest, inviting local residents between the ages of 9 and 18 to participate. The winning artwork will appear on official stickers distributed to voters at polling places throughout the county during the General Election on Tuesday, November 4.

Entries must be submitted by June 30 and follow specific guidelines: the design should be circular, two inches in diameter, and must include the phrase “I Voted.” Submissions can be hand-drawn or digital, created using any medium such as crayon, paint, pencil, or digital tools like an iPad. Acceptable file formats include photo, PDF, or JPEG, and designs should be sent via email to elections@co.ulster.ny.us.

Artwork will be accepted from April 15 through June 30. Once submissions close, the Ulster County Board of Elections Commissioners, along with a panel of community arts leaders under the county’s new Arts, Culture, and Open Spaces initiative, will select five finalists. The public will then have the opportunity to vote for their favorite design later in the summer through the county’s website.

The winning sticker will be distributed to voters across the county on Election Day. Additional details can be found at voteulster.com or by calling 845-334-5470.
