After months of rumors, Hotel Kinsley recently confirmed in a press release that they were joining forces with Design Hotels, a hotel brand and hospitality consulting company owned by Marriott International.
Hotel Kinsley will join a rapidly growing portfolio of over 300 unique and independently-operated luxury hotels worldwide in Marriott’s new “asset-light” business strategy to partner with hotels and provide a full suite of services rather than own them outright. This trend is pervasive in the hotel industry, with Hilton and Hyatt following suit.
Hotel Kinsley occupies four 19th-century buildings, including their flagship location at a former state bank where guests check in inside the original vault. The 42 guest rooms include luxe details like fireplaces and soaking tubs, while the property’s restaurant and cocktail bar draw both travelers and locals.
Expanding beyond lodging, the hotel recently introduced Assembly, a 450-person cultural venue located in a repurposed schoolhouse at 236 Wall Street.
