Allegations of misconduct by Plattekill Elementary School employees lead to administrative leave, new acting principal

Allegations of misconduct at Plattekill Elementary School led to two employees being placed on administrative leave and a temporary principal being installed.

The district confirmed the investigation began promptly after receiving the allegations but declined to share further details, citing privacy laws.

In a unanimous decision by the Wallkill Central School District board, the district’s coordinator of special education, Nicole Parete, was appointed acting principal effective April 3. She will serve through the end of the 2024–25 school year unless the superintendent decides to end the agreement with at least five days’ notice.

Monica Hasbrouck is still listed as principal on the WCSD website. It has not been confirmed whether she is among the employees placed on leave.
