According to the Town of Ulster Town Clerk, closed-on-Sundays fast food restaurant Chick-fil-A has filed an application to redevelop the old Red Lobster located at the corner of Route 9W and Miron Lane.
The plans were revealed at the board’s February 11 monthly planning meeting.
Chick-fil-A has been controversial due to past donations to anti-LGBTQ+ groups and its perceived stance on social issues, as well as being part of a fast food industry that contributes to poor diets leading to obesity and death. Comments on social media were split between those echoing these concerns, and those happy to potentially have a new fast fried chicken joint.
There was no timeline presented for development.
