Get ready for the snow to fall with gusto and temperatures to plunge dramatically — a winter storm watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning for the southeast Catskills and mid-Hudson Valley, among other nearby regions. After the snow comes the bitter cold.
The winter storm watch warned total accumulations of seven inches or more are possible in our area. Local forecasters Hudson Valley Weather said that though the storm track remained somewhat uncertain on Thursday, four inches or more could certainly be in the cards.
While the snow could make travel more dicey, next week’s post-snowstorm arctic chill will make our lives a fight to stay warm. On Monday and Tuesday, our area is likely to see highs in the teens or low 20s, with overnight temperatures posisbly plunging below zero on Wednesday in some areas.
Long-term forecasts predict lows in or near the teens throughout the rest of January and February. Grab that extra blanket and secure your water pipes.
