Local weather forecasters are predicting that Thanksgiving 2024 in Ulster County will be the perfect day to stay cozily indoors and eat copious amounts of comfort food. According to Hudson Valley Weather, wet snow is predicted for the Catskills, cold rain for the valley areas.
Precipitation is expected to come down fairly constantly throughout the day, begin in the early morning and tapering off in the evening, with temperatures in the low 30s at higher elevations and mid-to-high 30s in lower elevation environments. Accumulations were not expected to be significant — an inch or less — but could still make for slow travel on the roads and in the skies.
Rain and snow is expected up and down the entire East Coast on Thanksgiving, save for Florida. The famous NYC Thanksgiving Day Parade will go on rain or shine, but expect a low turnout if it pours, as umbrellas have been banned by organizers. Wind was not expected to reach the red line of 23 MPH sustained winds or 34 MPH gusts, which would cause cancellation of the parade balloons.
