Peter Buffett’s NoVo Foundation has given tens of millions of dollars to nonprofits in the Hudson Valley over the past several years, and soon his organization will have considerably more financial resources. His father Warren Buffett, one of the most successful and famous investors in the world, announced yesterday in a press release he was giving 300,000 B shares of his Berkshire Hathaway Inc. business to the NoVo Foundation, with shares also going to his other three family foundations.

As of Nov. 25, Berkshire Hathaway’s Class B shares were trading at approximately $482.18 per share. Therefore, 300,000 Class B shares would be valued at about $144,654,000.

NoVo Foundation gave out a whopping $195,124,661 in 2022 alone (the most recent year tax records are publicly available). While the foundation gives to nonprofits across the country, Peter Buffett has taken a special interest here in the area where he lives, supporting and sustaining a long list of local nonprofits over many years and millions in funding.

In 2022 alone, NoVo contributions to area entities (as indicated in their tax records) totaled over 46 million dollars and included:
