What started as a mouthwatering pop-up food truck operation will soon be getting a real brick-and-mortar location. New York Chicken Shop is planning a January 2025 debut at the old Paulie Boy Hero Shop location in Kingston Plaza. They held a sneak preview event today.
After frequently selling out and wowing customers in Saugerties at the Garlic Festival and pop-ups at Mirabella’s, Windmill Wine & Spirits and Rust Free Motors, owners Steven King and Brian Morris (known throughout the area for their prominent roles in HITS) are taking their chicken concept to the next level.
The menu prominently features a spicy Takis-encrusted chicken sandwich invented by their chef, Colin Crompton. Garlic buttermilk popcorn chicken and chili lime fries will also be featured.
Saugerties has a thriving chicken sandwich scene, with delicious contenders on the menu at The Dutch, Blue Collar Sammies, Buns Burgers, The Town Cafe, Rock Da Casbah, Pig Bar and Miss Lucy’s Kitchen.
When it comes to chicken sandwich competition, Kingston’s offerings aren’t anything to shake a drumstick at. Stella’s Restaurant, Restaurant Kinsley, Urban Fork, Salamone’s Italian Foods, Brickmen Kitchen + Bar, The Hoffman House, Front Street Tavern, and Joe’s Deli & Grocery all make highly regarded offerings.
