“Nina touched countless lives during her many years of public service, and her generosity of spirit was unmatched,” wrote Ulster County executive Jen Metzger upon hearing of former county clerk Postupack’s passing on October 10. “She embodied everything a public servant should be — professional, fair, compassionate and responsive.”
Postupack retired 14 months ahead of the expiration of her present term for health reasons. Taylor Bruck became acting county clerk in August 2024.
Beginning her career in the clerk’s office in 1979, Postupack rose through the ranks. By 1982, she was appointed deputy county clerk, and in 1990 chief deputy county clerk. “Over the years, she has transformed the clerk’s office into a beacon of public service, marked by transparency, accessibility, and historical preservation,” an August announcement said.
In a poignant farewell, county legislature chair Peter Criswell termed Posrupack’s dedication to the people of Ulster County unparalleled. “Nina served her community; she embraced all of us, transcending politics to build bridges where others might see divides,” he wrote.
