The Kingston Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred on June 2 on Mead Street in Kingston. Authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 2:11 p.m. reporting a deceased individual at 11 Mead Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 71-year-old Rieke Guercio, who had suffered blunt force injuries and wounds from an edged weapon.
In a press release, the police stated that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. “At this time we are releasing no information pertaining to possible suspects or persons of interest, however, nothing in the investigation indicates that there is any threat to public safety regarding this incident,” the statement read.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Town of Ulster and state police, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, and the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office.
