Fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles encircled the intersection of Schwenk Drive and Fair Street Thursday, clogging Uptown traffic after two individuals sustained injuries in a three-vehicle accident.
This busy intersection has a reputation among locals as confusing and potentially dangerous because multiple lanes of traffic must stop and yield right of way.
The incident occurred at approximately 10am on Thursday, May 23. Brandon Bishop, 21, from Catskill, was driving a Chevy pickup truck from Fair Street towards the Plaza when his vehicle was struck by a Ford Suburban. The Ford, driven by Christine Reidy, 72, of Tillson, was headed towards Washington Avenue.
Police reported the collision caused Reidy’s Suburban to collide with a Hyundai sedan, which was stationary at a traffic light exiting the Plaza onto Schwenk Drive. Liquids could be seen dripping out of the damaged vehicle. The Hyundai was driven by Susan Taylor, 60, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
Bishop told emergency responders he was experiencing pain in his shoulder and arm and was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital by the Kingston Fire Department. Taylor, who experienced pain in her elbow, lower arm, and hand, was also taken to the same hospital by ambulance.
The incident is still under investigation.
