SUNY New Paltz has released a last minute venue change for commencement four days before the event. Prior to this change, it was to be held outside and all non-ticket holders were able to attend. The change of venue came after the May 2 encampment at the school.

SUNY New Paltz will now hold its 2024 commencement ceremonies indoors in the Athletic & Wellness Center on May 17, 18 and 19.

Undergraduates will be recognized across four ceremonies, two each on Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, to ensure that all graduating students get to enjoy the defining collegiate experience of walking across the stage and receiving their degrees with each of their original, four ticketed guests cheering them on.

The schedule will be as follows:

Friday, May 17, 6 p.m.: Graduate commencement ceremony

Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m.: Undergraduate commencement ceremony 1 – College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (Majors: Anthropology, Asian Studies, Black Studies, Communication Disorders, Communication Studies, Digital Media Management, Digital Media Production, Economics, English, Environmental Studies, General Studies Geography, History, Journalism)

Saturday, May 18, 1 p.m.: Undergraduate commencement ceremony 2 – College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (Majors: French, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies)

Sunday, May 19, 9 a.m.: Undergraduate commencement ceremony 3 – Schools of Fine & Performing Arts and Education

Sunday, May 19, 1 p.m.: Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony 4 – Schools of Business and Science & Engineering
