The Saugerties Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run car accident that occurred on Wednesday, January 10, where 21-year-old Starllie Swonyoung of Saugerties was fatally struck from behind by a southbound vehicle while walking along the shoulder of the roadway on Route 9W between the Village of Saugerties and the hamlet of Malden.
Swonyoung was transported by Diaz Ambulance to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston where she succumbed to her injuries. Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver of the vehicle.
