Don’t save all your party juice for New Year’s Eve, because Spaghetti Eastern joins forces with Spaceheater this Thursday for a night of eclectic and mesmerizing sounds. It’s going to be out there.
Spaghetti Eastern, the brainchild of Saugerties and NYC-based Sal Cataldi, is an audacious fusion of acid jazz, funk-fired guitar instrumentals, ambient soundscapes, and intimate vocal ballads. This solo project has garnered critical acclaim for its daring mix that echoes the likes of Fripp, Eno, and Nick Drake. Cataldi’s diverse influences offer a journey through varied musical landscapes – from the rhythms of 70’s Miles Davis and Krautrock to the serene acoustics echoing Brit Folk and Bossa Nova. His recent releases continue to showcase his versatility, merging atmospheric ambience with acoustic storytelling, making his performance a must-see.
Joining this musical odyssey is Spaceheater, a newly formed quartet of veteran Hudson Valley musicians including Cataldi himself. This group is a powerhouse of genre-defying sounds, blending heavy rock, jazz, blues, ambient, and industrial influences. Born in the cold rehearsal spaces of Kingston’s Green Kill art gallery, their music is a unique concoction of hallucinatory soundscapes and improvisational prowess. With their varied backgrounds and collective experiences, Spaceheater’s performance is set to be an eclectic mix of originals and covers, ranging from early Pink Floyd to electric-era Miles Davis, promising a night where the music is as diverse and vibrant as the musicians themselves.
