Catch classic films from the golden age of Hollywood on this Hudson Valley big screen

Save for New Year’s Eve parties, this time of year famously begins the “quiet season” of local events where the combination of the holidays, New Year’s resolutions, and winter weather keep most of us indoors.

It’s times like these when you appreciate our local movie theaters, which are many in number relative to the size of our population. Rosendale Theatre is one of the most beloved for its depth and breadth of programming, support of local filmmakers, dedication to educating the community, and intimate atmosphere.

Did we mention you can always count on Rosendale Theatre to show classic films on the big screen? This Friday they’re hosting a Marx Brothers double feature, screening Horse Feathers (1932) and Duck Soup (1933), two side-splitters from the golden age of Hollywood. Then on Saturday, the venue will present its recurring “Saturday Creature Feature” with two lycanthropic thrillers from the Dust Bowl era. Catch the timeless Werewolf of London (1935) and The Wolfman (1941) at 7pm, and check the bathroom mirror at intermission to make sure you’re not growing fangs or a wolf beard.

Rosendaletheatre.org has all the details.
