Christmas for gamers in New Paltz

Growing up, our family had a tradition of allowing us kids to open one gift on Christmas Eve, and that gift was always a board game. Some of my fondest holiday memories are playing that new game with my family. Even if the game itself was not very fun, we’d find a way to make it fun. Isn’t that the stuff of Christmas magic?

Don’t consider yourself a “board gamer”? You might be missing out – there is a greater selection of more high-quality games for every type of player than ever before. The board game industry has been on a tear for several years now, and has gone far beyond the board: Dungeons and Dragons has never been more popular, collectible card games are thriving, party games are on trend, and yes, traditional board games for every niche interest and theme are proliferating thanks to crowdfunding and a surge in collecting.

All this is to get you psyched to get down to Gunks Gaming Guild & Cafe, where over 450 games are available to play. The friendly staff will give you custom game recommendations and even help you learn how to play them, all while serving up delicious cafe treats. Their holiday party is a chance for newcomers to see what all the fun is about, and gamers to connect with others who share their interests. There will also be a holiday crafting session to make those last-minute pieces of seasonal decor. Plus, we hear The Grinch will be making an appearance!

Go to gunksgamingguild.com for all the details.
