A Kingston man wanted on a parole violation warrant was picked up with both a gun and cocaine by police in the Town of Lloyd, authorities said.
According to Lloyd police, Asonte L. Russ, 30, of Kingston was arrested Aug. 21. Cops said Russ was riding in a car that got pulled over on Route 9W in Highland when he attempted to flee on foot; while being chased, police said, he displayed a loaded gun.
One police put the cuffs on him, they said they also found cocaine and discovered the active parole warrant.
Russ was charged with the following felonies: second-degree criminal possession of a weapon; menacing a police officer; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Misdemeanor charges: seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance; second-degree criminal impersonation and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
Following arraignment in Lloyd town court, he was jailed without bail.
