Upstate Films will screen Thelma and Louise outdoors at Greig Farm in Red Hook on Saturday, August 24 at dusk. The Academy Award-winning film features friends Thelma, a meek housewife played by Geena Davis, and Louise, an independent waitress played by Susan Sarandon, who have grown sick and tired of what they’ve settled for and decide they need to take a trip. The pair hit the road in Louise’s ’66 Thunderbird convertible for a three-day vacation with no husbands, no boyfriends and no problems, but things don’t go according to plan. Slyly nodding to popular Hollywood outlaw movies such as Easy Rider, Badlands, Bonnie and Clyde and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Callie Khouri’s Oscar-winning screenplay, directed by Ridley Scott, struck a worldwide nerve. The farm opens its gates at 6:30 p.m., leaving plenty of time to picnic on site or enjoy the casual gourmet food cooked up by Papa’s Best Batch. Tickets cost $8 for Upstate Films members, $10 for non-members. Reservations can be made in advance by visiting https://bpt.me/4308493. Greig Farm is located at 243 Pitcher Lane in Red Hook.
