The Woodstock Playhouse cast of professionals brings Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical’ to the stage of the Woodstock Playhouse, 103 Mill Hill Road, August 2 thru August 18 for three great weekends in celebration of the roots the Woodstock Festival connected to the town and the playhouse.
The anthems of 1968, with book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni & James Rado, music by Galt MacDermot, and originally produced by the New York Shakespeare Festival Theatre, will ring clear with ‘Aquarius’, ‘Easy to Be Hard’, ‘Let the Sunshine In’, ‘Hair’, and the chilling ‘Flesh Failures’ and more under the lauded music direction of Robert Tomasulo. Of ‘Hair’, Mr. Tomasulo states, “Hair is an exceptional piece that features a rich and diverse assortment of musical styles, ranging from soul to doo-wop to bluegrass to acid rock (and all styles in between!). Collectively, these musical styles combine to tell the story of a generation; a generation with a poignant message that is more relevant than ever in our current society.”
HAIR contains brief full nudity and adult sexual language & situations and is presented by arrangement with Tams-Witmark, A Concord Theatricals Company.
