Winery-crawl season is about to get underway again along the Shawangunk Wine Trail, kicking off with the self-guided Wines & Bites tour this weekend, May 18 and 19. Receive a souvenir wineglass at your starting winery and enjoy delicious wine-tastings paired with a mouthwatering food bite – cheeses, meats, salads, pastas or desserts – at some or all of the 15 member wineries. Remember, having a little something in your stomach throughout the day will cushion the less desirable effects of ingesting alcohol! Plus, you can space your visits out over the two days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Participating wineries (and cideries) include Angry Orchard in Walden; Applewood Winery, Clearview Vineyard, Demarest Hill Winery & Distillery and Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery in Warwick; Baldwin Vineyard and Brimstone Hill Vineyard in Pine Bush; Benmarl Winery, Glorie Farm Winery and Stoutridge Vineyard in Marlboro; Brotherhood, America’s Oldest Winery in Washingtonville; Magnanini Farm Winery in Wallkill; Palaia Winery & Meadery in Highland Mills; Robibero Winery in New Paltz; and Whitecliff Vineyard in Gardiner.
Tickets cost $46.55 for both days, $29.73 for Sunday only or $18.54 for designated drivers, and are only available online in advance (until 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17). To reserve yours, designate your starting point and get a map of the Wine Trail, visit www.shawangunkwinetrail.com/wines-bites. They can hook you up with non-alcohol-fueled transportation options as well. For more info, call (845) 256-8456 or e-mail info@gunkswine.com.
