A 30-year-old tech executive and onetime candidate for the state Assembly will seek a seat in the County Legislature currently occupied by Democrat Lynn Eckert (D-Kingston).Â
Abe Uchitelle, 30, announced last week that he would run as a Democrat in District 5, representing Uptown Kingston. Last year, Uchitelle mounted an unsuccessful primary challenge to long-serving Democratic Assemblyman Kevin Cahill.
Eckert, a progressive Democrat who previously served on the Kingston Common Council, is not seeking a second two-year term in the legislature.
Uchitelle is president of the Kingston-based tech firm Dragon360. He also serves on the boards of the Kingston Land Trust and Family of Woodstock. So far, no Republican has announced their candidacy for the legislative seat.
