The Lloyd Historical Society presents former prison superintendent David Miller speaking on the early history of prisons in the mid-Hudson Valley. Using archival footage, photographs and discussion, Miller will examine the early days of the state’s prison system and document the evolution toward rehabilitation and a more positive prison philosophy. Miller has devoted 40 years of service to the New York State criminal justice system, beginning as a teacher at the Highland State Training School and retiring as a supervising superintendent for the Mid-Hudson Region in 2005.
