How do you follow up being the offspring of two silver-screen icons? Isabella Rossellini has found success as an actress (Blue Velvet, Immortal Beloved, Fearless, Big Night) and model. She was the longtime face of Lancôme cosmetics, given the boot in 1996 for being “too old” (43) and triumphantly rehired by a new female CEO 20 years later. She has also written three memoirs, raised and trained guide dogs, run an organic farm on Long Island and produced for television. She’s now closing in on a Master’s degree in Animal Behavior and Conservation from Hunter College.
One recent TV project was a series collectively titled Green Porno that explored the subject of courtship and reproduction in the animal kingdom. This area of interest evolved into her current traveling lecture/performance, Link Link Circus. In this show, Rossellini addresses the latest scientific discoveries about animal minds, intelligence and emotions. Assisted by her trained dog Pan, she transforms herself into Aristotle, Descartes, B. F. Skinner and Charles Darwin to deliver a vivid monologue about the brilliance of the animal kingdom.
